I'm such an awful blogger. The boys turned six months old, and I didn't even post about it. Well, this is about a week and a half late, but hey- better late than never.
Mason is hilarious! He screams, and I mean SCREAMS at the top of his lungs. Not because he is unhappy or mad but rather to be HEARD. And trust me, you hear him! Mason's hair goes back and forth from looking blonde to looking auburn, but his eyes have stayed blue. He wears size 3 diapers and size 12 month clothes. He is very oral and wants to put everything in his mouth. He drools like crazy and spits up occasionally too. He is better with his eye-hand coordination than Brody and is actually super close to crawling. He "scoots" backwards on his belly which we find too cute, and he can almost get his knees up under himself to crawl. I'm anxious to see if he crawls forward or backward first. HA! He really likes the jumping swing that hangs from our door trim. Although he goes to sleep easily, he does not stay asleep as long and definitely doesn't sleep as hard as Brody. He sleeps from about 9 PM - 6 AM but wakes up a few times per night because he is on his belly or wants his pacifier. Mason is a happy boy that loves to be snuggled, kissed and held.
Brody is still our "intense one." He looks at you and the minute he sees that you are looking at him, he smiles from ear to ear. Brody's eyes are brown and his hair is coming in super dark. We love it. Brody hasn't quite learned to scoot the way Mason has, but he has learned to roll back and forth. Brody wears a size three diaper and nine month clothes. He is long and lean. Brody's favorite toy is still the jumperoo. It takes us longer to get Brody to sleep because he is such a busybody, but once he is asleep, he sleeps long and hard. We rarely have to wake up in the middle of the night with him; he sleeps from about 9 PM to 6 AM, usually without waking. Woohoo! Brody is also still infatuated with the dogs. He adores Moxie; he stares at her and holds his hand out to touch her when she walks near him. Tucker would rather not be bothered. Brody is a bit more serious than Mason, but his smile is absolutely amazing! He does tend to laugh more heartily and loudly than Mason, but overall, he is definitely more quiet than his brother. Brody is adorable and independent!
Both the boys are rolling all over the place. We put them in one spot, leave the room, and they are across the room before we know it. So far, the boys have eaten applesauce, carrots, green beans, peas, sweet potatoes, squash, and oatmeal. I would say Mason's favorite is applesauce and carrots, and Brody's favorite is squash and applesauce. Mason is a slob when he eats; he spits the food out about three times before he finally eats that one bite. You have to be really patient with him, and he usually needs a bot of coercing to eat. I have a feeling he is going to be a picky pants eater like his Daddy. Brody, on the other hand, likes almost anything you give him (just like his Mama) and is a neat and tidy eater. He holds his sweet little mouth open like a baby bird, patiently waiting for its Mama to drop in the food. He also has a bottom tooth coming in already!
Honestly, I love these boys both so much and appreciate their distinct differences.
The general consensus is that Mason looks like Allen and Brody looks like me; I haven't decided if I agree yet. What's your opinion on who they resemble?
This is my favorite stage thus far. I am loving everything about motherhood! Thanks for being a part of our adventure; every day is a new day around our house!
I've included a few short videos of the boys and several pics. It's the least I could do since I don't get to post very often. Based on my descriptions, I am sure you'll be able to tell which video is which child. HA!
Two smiles for cool shirts!
